White QVC Host Faces Controversy After Mocking Black Model's Hair on TV

If you think that the racially charged debate about "good hair" is over, then we've got some sad news for you - hair-shaming is still very real. During a recent segment, QVC host Sandra Bennett and her guest were discussing a Dooney & Bourke purse: the timeless details, classic design, durability (a typical sales pitch). Yet when the camera shifted to show the African American model with natural hair, Bennett led the conversation in another direction. "You might look back and think, why did I wear my hair like that? But you like your bag still," she joked. The Dooney & Bourke representative replied, saying, "You won't look at your hair in the picture. You'll look at your handbag." To plenty of viewers, this offhand comment seemed like an attack on the model's beautiful hair texture.

Many people felt humiliated for the model and enraged that such racist beauty standards were being perpetuated on national television. However, when confronted on Twitter, Bennett insisted that she and her colleague were unaware that the camera was on the model during the controversial comment. She also sent out an official apology on her Facebook page. Watch the clip below, and let us know what you think. Were the hosts intentionally mocking the model's Afro hair?
