Why Oxygen's New Nail Art Competition Is an Awesome Drama Fest

Admit it, your weeknight guilty pleasure is reality television. We know you've seen all the episodes of The Real Housewives of Melbourne, and thanks to Oxygen, you can now add a beauty-centric show to your DVR lineup. Last night, the network premiered a genius new nail art competition show - called Nail'd It - and we were there to catch all of the juicy drama.

Here's what you need to know: the series is hosted by Adrienne Bailon and judged by celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik and CND cofounder Jan Arnold, and each week three manicurists will compete in a two-part tournament. The first trial is all about quick-dry designs, while the elimination round requires in-depth 3D work. In the end, one winner will be chosen from 18 contestants. The victor will take home $100,000 and a cover shoot for Nail It! magazine.

We had no idea there was so much interpersonal tension in the world of nail art aficionados! Within the first few minutes of the premiere, tensions were high between Classic Mully and Jamie Melchor, who have battled before. The third contestant, LaToya Parker, was new to the claw competition circuit. All three ladies were challenged to create nail art inspired by statement fashion pieces. Classic's matte, black diamond design won out.

In the final challenge, each manicurist had to re-create her rivals' design . . . but do it better. After some debate over the "duck feet" nail trend and some conniving stealing of tools (cough, Classic), at the end of the 60-minute tournament, Classic took home the $10,000 prize and the guaranteed spot in the finals, but not without a slap on the wrists for her egotistical attitude. See her winning designs below, and watch Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EDT for more manicure melodrama. Plus, keep checking back here for our recaps of each episode!
